Joyce -- Bass
LOUD NEIGHBOR began
for fun in our house. We named the band in honor of all of our very cool neighbors who (almost) never complain. I began
playing bass as a direct response to all of the guitarists coming through my house...so many guys playing lead, and no
one ever wanted to play bass. I just wanted to play with the guys, so I started taking
bass lessons...time flies and I’ve been playing now for five years. I’m inspired by the musical abilities of Aris
and Nick and their willingness to keep me around.
My love for music started early. I was raised in a musical family and I owe many thanks to my Dad. I’m trying to carry on the tradition
by inspiring my own kids with a love for music. Lately, my days seem to be filled with the responsibilities of mommyhood, but
playing hard music really grounds me and reminds me of who I am.
Nick -- Guitars, Vocals
Guitar became a passion for me during my teenage years. Aris was a big inspiration for me, as we both attended the same summer camp, playing
guitars around the campfire. I did, however, move on quickly from "Kumbaya," and
discovered 70's rock. I was influenced by CSN, Neil, Stones, Zep, Steely Dan,
Skynard and others. In recent years, I found myself gigging with “H2”,
an acoustic guitar duo, with the accomplished guitarist/singer, David Heath. My
passion called me to rock a little harder and playing with LOUD NEIGHBOR has been really cool.
Born and raised in the
South Bay, I continue to call the beach my home. When I’m not working on riffs or fixing someone's broken wrist,
you’ll find me having coffee with Chris at Java Man in Hermosa on weekends or out getting physical. I dig traveling
and would love for all of you to see us on our next world tour...Rock on!
Todd -- Drums
As
a child, I tried trombone, guitar and piano…they all seemed like a lot of work to me. After seeing Buddy Rich
play live at Disneyland,
I was hooked on drums! So at thirteen I took some lessons using just a drum pad and chair. Finally, I bought a 1978 Buddy
Rich Slingerland five piece drum set with a classic pearl finish…and I still play that very
set today! I banged on those drums until I was sixteen, and my mom was cool enough to let me practice anytime up to 10:00pm
(as long as she wasn’t on the phone). I guess you could say I was the original “LOUD NEIGHBOR”.
Somehow life took over,
and playing music became a thing of the past. After not picking up the sticks
for 22 years, my brother Greg, who is a gifted guitarist and bassist, encouraged me to take my set
out of storage and house it in his music room so we could jam like the old days…soon after, Aris showed up to play with
us for an hour or so, and six months later asked me to start a band. I had never
played in a band before, and it sounded like a real good time. I was right! Playing
with LOUD NEIGHBOR is so much fun, especially since we don't take ourselves too seriously and play for the pure enjoyment
of it.
It is such a blast to play live gigs and see all our family and friends dancing
and having fun...I hope you will continue to come out and enjoy yourselves. Don’t forget to let us know your favorite
tunes as we are continuously updating our song list to keep it fresh for ya!
Aris -- Guitars, Vocals
With the help of Mel Bay, I first started playing guitar at the tender age of 6, but my first band experience wasn't
until the 9th grade -- using borrowed gear in a friend's garage. My main influences during my "formative" years
were the Allman Brothers, Neil Young, and a whole bunch of guys from England...Page, Richards, Blackmore, Beck, Harrison and
Clapton.
Ampaholism got a hold of me later in life, the smell of burning solder filling
the air. My amps include several homemade varieties...Marshall JTM45, 18Watt and JCM800 clones, a Vox
AC30 clone, and homemade Fender 5E3 and 6G2 clones. An '82 Mesa Boogie Mark IIB (hardwood/wicker, 100/60, EQ,
Reverb). And old vintage Fender '66 Showman and '67 Bassman amps, too. I've got an old 100
watt Marshall room heater on my radar screen....stay tuned. And my trusty Roland Micro Cube gets used the most around the
house, much to the pleasure of my family and neighbors. Guitars: a Gibson historic '57 reissue Les Paul
Standard Goldtop, '57 Historic Les Paul Junior TV Yellow (1957...hmm, I wonder what's so special about that year?),
a homebuilt Warmoth-parts Strat, a pair of Warmoth parts Tele guitars, and a Rickenbacker 620/12 for the jangly Byrds/Beatles/Petty
stuff. My custom pedalboard consists of various homebuilt stompboxes...usually only the overdrives, delays and wahs get used
much anymore. Completing the madness are a homebuilt Weber Revibe (tube reverb/trem), Energizer alkalines,
George L. cables, D'Adarrio XL115 strings and heavy gauge custom "Aris Amplification" logo picks. I love
this stuff...! PA speakers....lightweight and loud enclosures from www.billfitzmauricedesigns.com
