I play guitar in a couple of Los Angeles area casual cover bands. And I have the typical amp servicing needs. I was
becoming frustrated by the lengthy wait times my local amp repair shop needed to service and repair my amplifiers...sometimes
3-6 weeks. I knew I was handy with both multimeter and soldering iron. So after doing some web research, and after
reading a couple of electronics books, I felt ready. Armed with bias probe and a few other gizmos, I proceeded to
retube and bias my amp...success!
One thing led to another...a minor modification, a restoration of an old beat '65 Bandmaster, some major modifications,
and ultimately building amps from scratch...and an obsession was born.
I am passionate about tube amps...the complexity of their voice, the "throat," the feel, articulation and touch-sensitivity...I
love the way a great amp brings out the uniqueness of each guitar and guitar player...
